for decking us out in delight.

Today was a fun day. My good friend, Pastor Skip Powell's (Maryland) daughters, Santia and Lauren wanted to surprise Carla by visiting her on her birthday. Since their mother passed away years ago, Carla has been like a Mom to those girls. Their relationship is very special.
We kept their visit a secret because obviously we wanted to keep it has a surprise. They had some challenges getting here, but finally God worked it out. And what was amazing to me, was how God's hand was in this whole thing. This was evidenced by Carla's comments to me the last two days. She mentioned on two occasions, that she missed those girls. That freaked me out, because she had no idea that they were coming. Just today, she was crying thinking about them. And about the same time she was crying, I was picking them up at the airport in Indianapolis.
As of early this morning, it looked like the girls weren't going to make the trip. But at the last-minute, they decided to catch a stand-by flight out of D.C. So instead of taking Carla out to dinner today in the Fort, I told her that we would be going to Indianapolis (they caught a direct flight into Indy).
BTW, Adrienne and Santia are a few months apart in ageand practically grew up together. They went to school together at Rhema and were roommates. Her Dad and I went to school together at Rhema where we met. So the relationship between our families has been special. So Adrienne went with us to Indianapolis. She was the one who coordinated this surprise. We arrived in Indianapolis at the Circle Center mall about 6:00 p.m. and went to dinner at P.F. Chang's. After dinner at about 7:00 p.m., we went towards the stores in the mall. I stopped at a store and told Carla and Adrienne to go ahead and I will catch up with them later. And then proceeded to the Indianapolis airport to pick the girls up. It took a little longer than expected because the girls flight was delayed. But things worked out so smooth, Carla didn't realize I had left the mall. On my way back from the airport, I called Carla and asked her and Adrienne to meet me at P.F. Chang's. We walked through a department store and I could see Carla at a distance at the restaurant so I told Santia and Lauren to wait in the department store while I proceeded to get Carla. I walked her into the department store and told her there was something I wanted her to see, and eventually she saw the girls. At first she thought they were store employees, but as she got closer she realized it was "her girls". And then Carla was Carla. She let out a GREAT BIG SHOUT in the store and burst into tears. It was the perfect surprise. She gave the girls a big hug and was so excited. I stood back and took it all in; taking pictures and enjoying how God blessed her day and granted her the desire of her heart. I was so blessed seeing how God had decked her day out with delight.
